Here we have a customers home that was originally landscaped by a general contractor. As you can see the general contractor took your basic shrubs and stuck them in the ground and installed a brick walkway that was not set on the proper base. After a few years the shrubs outgrew their original size and were overpowering the front of the house and the original brick walkway was no longer level and was full of weeds and insects from lack of proper installation. Also, the lawn is full of weeds due to a small amount of poor quality loam being put down.
After almost a complete makeover the shrubs were replaced with other shrubs and prerrenial flowers that will not outgrow their space and will add color throughtout the season. The original red brick walk way was replaced with a tone that blends better with the color of the house and was lengthened to wrap around the house to the stone patio in the back yard. The lawn was covered in top quality loam and compost then hydroseeded to give it that beautiful "golf course green" color and with a nice thick base the roots will grow deeper and make it an overall healthier and weed free lawn. When finished the home owners had a beautiful 360 degree curb appeal that made this family the envy of the neighborhood!
The solution was to remove the center strip of lawn area and expand the bed. By choosing the proper plants the shrubs will never block the windows, and the perrenials provide color at all points of the season and definetly provides the homeowners with the proper "Welcome Home!".
The solution was to add a raised stone wall planting bed to add some height to the plants and make the lattice seem almost non existent once the plants grew to mature size. Shrubs and perrenials added constant color and a few hanging baskets on the porch made this a welcoming site when coming home.
